Intermodal Group is one of Western Australia’s leading freight container logistic and transport operators.
Headquartered at Fremantle Port’s North Quay Rail Terminal (NQRT), Intermodal is Western Australia’s major import and export rail freight and container operator.
At Intermodal we partner with our clients to develop smart, efficient, cost effective and sustainable rail freight solutions that overcome supply chain, environmental and traffic congestion challenges.
Under our agreement with Fremantle Ports to operate the North Quay Rail Terminal, Intermodal’s Link Services has been tasked with achieving the State Government’s policy objectives of reducing the Port’s reliance on road container freight movements by up to 300,000 truck movements by the year 2026.
Between 2018 and 2019 we achieved a 27 per cent increase in rail freight from Fremantle of 158,000 twenty-foot equivalents (TEU) with a further increase in 2020.
Along with our Intermodal Train Service’s business, Intermodal Link Services manages the rail terminals at Fremantle along with the Forrestfield Intermodal Terminal (FIT) that is strategically located near two of the State’s largest container suppliers, international and domestic airports and interstate rail transfer sites.
Our clients are also able to take advantage of Intermodal’s Container Services that manages and operates the State’s largest inland hire and de-hire container park at Forrestfield that also provides container cleaning and maintenance services.
The Intermodal Group’s day-to-day operations are managed by our majority shareholder the North American based family-owned transport and logistics business, Watco, with the Australian based publicly listed transport company Qube holding a minority, non-operational interest in the company.
