In financial year 2025/26 a total of 26.4 per cent of container freight was transport to and from the North Quay Rail Terminal (NQRT). This result breaks the previous 2024/25 record of 23.5 per cent and again puts NQRT as the leading port across Australia for freight on rail.
As the operator of NQRT Intermodal Group Vice President Adam Lebihan is encouraged by this outstanding result and the benefits it brings to the wider Perth metropolitan area.
“Intermodal Group is extremely proud to have achieved a record rail share in FY25/26, representing a significant milestone not only for our business, but for the broader supply chain and freight industry.”

By continuing to shift more freight onto rail, we are delivering benefits that extend beyond our customers and partners, contributing to reduced road congestion, lower emissions, and enhanced supply chain performance across the industry.”
“A sincere thank you to our industry stakeholders, rail partners and, most importantly, our customers for their continued support, trust and collaboration. This result is a testament to the strength of our partnerships and the collective efforts of everyone involved in driving modal shift and unlocking the long-term value of rail freight.
