Intermodal Group are thrilled to announce the commencement of our rail service, operated by Watco Australia, between North Quay (Fremantle Port) and the Kenwick Intermodal Terminal on the 6th of August 2024 . This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Intermodal Group as we continue to expand freight transport by rail in the Perth metropolitan area.
The Kenwick Intermodal Terminal (IMT) is strategically connected to the adjacent Roe Highway Logistics Park (RHLP) and provides easy access to the industrial warehouse precincts of Canning Vale, Jandakot and Kewdale, featuring RAV7 trucking access for seamless last-mile deliveries.
The Kenwick IMT is set to play a crucial role in increasing container rail volumes through the North Quay Rail Terminal and the future Westport, significantly enhancing the efficiency of Western Australia’s metropolitan rail freight supply chain.
With a throughput capacity of 200,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), including an empty container park, the Kenwick IMT is poised to become a pivotal hub in Intermodal Group’s operations.
Intermodal Group Vice President Adam Lebihan expresses great optimism for the future of the Kenwick IMT site: “It is great to have commenced our onsite operations at the Kenwick IMT this week. We are looking forward to providing a new service to our existing customers and welcome any new customers who are looking for a hassle free and cost effective, reliable way to get their containers to and from the Fremantle port (North Quay)”.
